Educational concerts are a long-standing tradition for the Plainview Symphony. We typically reach approximately 1,300 fourth and fifth grade students
from Plainview and the surrounding communities. Concerts are designed to be exciting and relevant to the students' age range. Educational content
is designed to develop understanding and appreciation of symphonic music and the unique instruments featured within the orchestra.
The music performed at the Kinder Koncert is an extension of the classroom experience and can be woven into existing lesson plans.
This year's Kinder Koncert will be the first of its kind: a traveling program to seven local elementary schools. An interactive educational presentation will involve a string quartet and Music Education students from Wayland Baptist University. We hope this will be part of a rotating educational emphasis which will enhance the Music Education experience for 4th and 5th graders by putting them in front of performing orchestral musicians.
